What to do straight away
Before you bring it to us, a few simple steps protect your machine:
- Power off immediately by holding the power button. Do not wait for a normal shutdown.
- Unplug the charger and do not charge it. Power flowing through a wet board is what kills components.
- Turn it upside down like an open tent and let it drain. Do not use a hair dryer or rice, and resist switching it on to test.
Common symptoms after a spill
Dead on power, sticky or dead keys, no display, random shutdowns, the trackpad misbehaving, or a burnt smell. Sugary and salty liquids are the most corrosive, so colas and tea are often worse than plain water.

We open the laptop, assess corrosion and liquid spread, then clean the board ultrasonically to remove residue. From there we test the power lines and repair shorted charging or power ICs at component level where it is viable. If only the keyboard or a single part is affected, we replace that instead. I've just spilt water on my laptop — what should I do before bringing it in?
